Talk about dodging a bullet.
This...
...is about half a mile from where I work.
Hundreds of people hurt, at least 20 houses obliterated, lots of cars thrown all around, a strip mall destroyed... and so far no one killed.
Wow.
UPDATED:
New Dominion was closed yesterday because the whole area was locked down, and when I came to work this morning I could see why. Large stands of trees, sheared off at about 15 feet, just snapped and thrown around. The strip mall looks like a bomb went off -- it's just twisted metal beams and little pieces of trash. A bunch of cars still scattered all over in weird places: middle of a field, in a grove of trees, upside down in a parking lot. It looks like a movie set around here.
Apparently, the winds hit 160mph. So far 145 homes have been condemned and 1200 damaged. No one dead. Whew.
